Many companies are rushing to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions, expecting immediate efficiency gains and cost reductions. However, as Rui Figueiredo, co-founder and partner at DareData, pointed out in his latest article for SAPOTEK, not all AI initiatives yield quick, measurable results.
In the article, Rui delved into the challenges businesses face when implementing AI, emphasising that successful adoption requires a clear strategy, well-defined use cases, and a strong connection between technology and business goals. He warns against the common pitfall of applying AI indiscriminately, noting that only well-integrated and purpose-driven AI initiatives create real value.
One of the biggest obstacles is transitioning from a Proof of Concept (PoC) to full-scale production. Many AI projects start as promising prototypes but fail to reach operational deployment due to scalability, integration, and governance issues. Rui drew parallels between today’s AI hype and the early 2000s boom of custom-built CRMs and applications - many of which became costly, inefficient silos due to poor strategic planning.
To ensure AI success, Rui stressed the importance of aligning AI projects with business objectives and fostering collaboration between technical teams and business leaders. Effective communication between these groups ensures that AI solutions are both technically viable and operationally impactful.
At DareData, we believe AI should be more than just a tool- it should be a strategic enabler that enhances decision-making, streamlines processes, and drives long-term growth. By prioritising value-driven use cases, businesses can avoid costly missteps and build sustainable AI-powered advantages.
